Awesome Pet Contest

Do you have an awesome pet?  The library is the place to showcase your furry, fuzzy, or scaly friend. Submit a photo of your pet (or draw a picture of the pet you wished you had) and write a funny caption.

Submissions will be accepted June 18–July 17.  Download your entry form  below or pick up a paper copy at the library. All entries must be submitted by July 17.

Vote at the library for your favorite pet between July 19 – August 21. Winners will be announced August 26.

Knight Park Community Clean Up
Saturday June 19, 9am-11am at Knight Park

Join us as we kick off summer by helping the environment! Participants will help keep Knight Park clean by picking up trash. Let’s keep our local park looking bright for the future!  Register here.

Eyes of the Wild Live Animal Show
Wednesday July 21, 2pm-3pm at the Scottish Rite

Join us for a special presentation by Eyes of the Wild. Learn about the habitats of animals such as coatimundi and wallabies and get a chance to pet some animals too! Register here.

Read & Bead
Children ages 3-12

Make a beaded chain this summer! Every minute read is worth a point. Cash in your points for fun beads to make your chain.

                                                                        15 minutes = 1 solid color bead
                                                                        30 minutes = 1 green transparent bead
                                                                        45 minutes = 1 neon bead
                                                                        60 minutes =1 glitter or metallic bead
                                                                        90 minutes = 1 animal bead

Children ages 2-6

Join Miss Melissa and Miss Renee for outdoor storytime! We will read books, sing songs, make music, play games, and learn basic ASL signs!  Spots are limited so please register! Households will be separated 6′ apart so bring your own seating.  Please leave food at home. In the event of bad weather, the program will be moved to Zoom and participants will be notified that morning. Register here

Nature Exploration
Thursday July 15, 2pm-3pm at the Scottish Rite
Children ages 4-8

Talk a walk around the Scottish Rite and observe nature! We will complete a scavenger hunt and see how our environment impacts animals. Register here.

Roll for Adventure:  An Introduction to Role-Playing Games
Tuesday June 29, 3pm-5pm at the Scottish Rite

Hail and well met, adventurer!  You are cordially invited to join our guild.  Whether you are a novice explorer or a seasoned swashbuckler, all are welcome!  In this single-session campaign, we’ll build characters, fight monsters, and, hopefully, save the day.  No equipment needed, simply come as you are.  Register here!

Fantasy Fan Club:  Tween Book Discussion & LARP Session
Tuesday July 20, 3pm-5pm at the Scottish Rite

Calling all fantasy lovers!  Join us for a low-key chat about our favorite fantasy reads.  Bring a book of your choice and get ready to share your favorite parts.  After the discussion, After the discussion, we’ll engage in live-action role-playing (LARP), including a foam sword battle! Read Woke Challenge

Read books that address social justice issues and feature characters from underrepresented or oppressed groups.  Register via READsquared to log your reading. Upon registration, you’ll receive a free book!  Read books to earn more free books.  Complete the program and you’ll get a chance to win a Wawa gift certificate.  See our teen page for more details.

Teen Crafternoon
Wednesday July 14, 3pm-5pm at the Scottish Rite
**UPDATE** – Due to inclement weather, this program has been moved INDOORS to the Teen Area.

Join us for a casual art hang.  We’ll provide some supplies and ideas for projects.  Feel free to bring a project you are working on or your own supplies.  All skill levels welcome!  No registration needed.

Read Woke Teen Book Discussion

Read & Bead Bingo
June 18 – August 21

This year adults can join in the summer reading fun!  Complete a Bingo row and earn beads to create a personalized beaded bookmark.  Complete your entire card for a chance to win Colls Cash!  

Choose which way to play. Pick up your Tails and Tales Bingo Board, bookmark base, and your first bead at the library OR register online through READsquared.  Fill in the squares as you read through the summer. After you complete one row, bring your Bingo Board to the library to choose your beads.  READsquared users will be contacted by the library to arrange bead pick up. 

Drop off your completed Bingo cards by August 28.  Colls Cash drawing winners will be announced in early September.
