Google’s free search engine for scholarly literature. This is good for research papers and finding scholarly sources.

Points of View

A full text database that provides students with essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. (Library card number required to log in)

Purdue Owl

This website provides research and citation resources. Purdue Owl can guide you through using different citation styles, complete with sample papers to look at for formatting.

 

 

Khan Academy

This website provides free online courses in math, science, history and economics. Useful for students currently in school or those wanting to learn more.

Driver’s Ed Test Prep

Prep for your permit test, and take practice tests.

Free ACT Test Prep

From the official ACT website. Gives students access to an ACT test guide along with practice quizzes and online test prep.

Free SAT Test Prep

From the College Board. Provides students with SAT prep, and a checklist of what to bring the day of the SAT.

 

Animal Welfare Association

The AWA allows volunteers ages 12-15 with a parent, and 16+ as full volunteers. This website has more information and an application to volunteer.

Ronald McDonald House Teen Advisory Council (TAC)

High school students can apply to be on the TAC and help families of children who are in hospitals that are staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The application and more information are on the website.

Food Bank of South Jersey

FBSJ takes volunteers 13-17 with a parent or guardian present. Volunteers can help at FBSJ in many ways, more information is listed on the website.

 

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals. For help, call or text 988 or visit the website for online chat.

2nd Floor

A confidential and anonymous helpline for New Jersey’s youth and young adults. Counselors offer support and solutions and are available 24/7 365 days a year. For help, call or text 1-888-222-2228 or visit the website to post on the message board.  

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ young people under 25. For help call, 1-866-488-7386, text START to 678-678, or visit the website for online chat.

Get Service Hours for Book Reviews!

Contribute to the Young Adult book collection and leave reviews of books you read. This service opportunity is available for 9th-12th graders. After reading a new book, fill out the form below which includes a 150 word review. You will receive 1 service hour for each review, limited to 3 reviews per month.
